Samir joined Thea Open Innovation (TOI) as Early-Stage Medical Director in January 2024. Over 10 years of pharmaceutical industry experience, he has gained a deep and diverse expertise in medical and clinical development focusing on ophthalmological disease in particular retinal diseases utilizing small molecule, peptides, antibodies, and gene therapy drug modalities. Prior to TOI, Samir worked for several biotechnology companies holding roles of increasing responsibilities in both clinical development and medical affairs including Senior Director of Clinical Development at Intergalactic Therapeutics and Kriya Therapeutics, Director of Clinical Development at Gemini Therapeutics and AsclepiX Therapeutics, Clinical and Medical Lead at Regenxbio, and Medical Science Liaison at Allergan.
Samir holds a MD from American University of Antigua College of Medicine, as well as a Bachelor of Science from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ.
